12:20 am	freaking out holy crap, could i be more in need of special attention right now? my dad had a stroke. apparently it was minor, but he's really slurry and sounds terrible. my brother is going to see him tomorrow and let me know how he's really doing b/c i don't believe my dad...he's trying to downplay something i think is a lot more serious. i realize there's not much anyone can do, but i'm freaking out. i just feel so helpless. i told him i'd jump in a car and drive home, but he said he can take care of himself and he doesn't want me to see him like this. i knew his health was getting degeneratively worse, but this is so awful. i can't stop crying and then my nose bleeds which is a real treat. he's only 59. anyway, if you get a moment, please send up some prayers for my dad. i really appreciate it. thanks. 8:02 pm	just signed the lease! so, it's been an interesting few weeks to say the least. finally got back into my smoke-filled apartment and have been struggling with whether to stay or go ever since. had a friend over last week to help clean and we felt like doing anything but, so we went for a drive around the neighborhood. well, we stumbled upon an "Apt for rent" sign that's literally one block away from where i live now (which is perfect since i really didn't want to leave my neighborhood). well, i called the number, he called back and i saw the apt the next day. turns out, it's the same rent amount i pay now, on the main floor, has three big closets, off-street parking, and covered parking as well! :) i just signed the lease and move in around labor day wknd. i can't wait! :) despite having my apt cleaned up from most of the smoke, i can still smell some remains...i also have the dj neighbor who plays his thump thump thump music all the time, plus, now i can get away from my slumlord. in addition to this exciting news, i went to chicago on business last wk, have two clients coming in to the factory this week, and i wrote up my first copywriting assignment at work today, which tehy seemed to really like. yay me! :) Current Mood: excited Current Music: vanished on tv (Comment on this)

2:33 am	homeless so, i got a call at work on friday that my apt complex was on fire. yes, fire. i went home to find my entire block shut down and firemen feverishly working. although i was told to stay away and that it would probably only be smoke damage, when i returned later i discovered that the basement fire had shut our entire complex down. my door was kicked in, my apt ransacked by firemen and smoke damage was everywhere. there's a sign on our apt door that it's a misdemeanor to occupy the living space! granted, there's no power anyway, but holy crap....i feel incredibly displaced and lost. i realize i'm lucky that the damage wasn't worse, but even the few items i was able to remove are badly damaged with smoke. i was in my apt for half an hour on friday surveying the damage and my chest started to hurt. how am i going to live there? we won't be allowed back until tuesday at the earliest and even then it's not guaranteed. what a rotten thing to happen...i just want to run away. 7:35 pm	i think this qualifies as something i've known for a long time The legend of Screech's endowment Dustin Diamond who played the infamous "Screech" on Saved By The Bell was on Howard Stern this morning, and of course Howard couldn’t wait to ask about the urban legend that he is massively hung. And it turns out it's no rumor, Screech has 10 inches! (unerect) Screech was the quintessential "skinny and rubbery-faced nerd" on Saved By The Bell (clumsy, goofy, loud clothes, hot for science and chess). We love that he had this secret side to him all along. As one caller put it "who knew he was the one we should have focused on". Never underestimate a nerd. There was a funny line that when he was born his dad said he was "all nose and hose". Diamond's has had the typical rough life of child star since the days of the show. He now lives in Wisconsin, has bad credit, and is about to lose his house and has a website where he's selling t-shirts to try and save it. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they are the problem. They have a lot of data but are still clueless. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that, if you had waited a little longer you could have had a better model. They hear what you say, but not what you mean. Computers are Like Women... No one but the Creator understands their internal logic. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else. 6:42 am	hate mail so, i came home the other day to a large envelope. the return address was the po box of my ex-boyfriend tj, but instead of just his last name, it had an "s" on the end. i thought this was odd, so i opened the envelope and found the valentine card i'd sent him along w/a letter saying: "i find it inappropriate for you to be writing to my husband. Please DO NOT write any more letters, cards, emails or phone calls to Tad! Thank you!" and then some scribble that is her signature. WHEN DID HE GET MARRIED?!?!?!!? this was the most non-committal man alive. before me, he lived w/2 girls for a couple years at a time. i didn't think he'd ever get married. and truthfully, i don't really care except that i don't appreciate being made out to be some sort of homewrecker when he never told me to begin with. it really pissed me off. i've decided to send her letter in to www.postsecret.com on a postcard. it made me feel incredibly empowered to take a bad situation and turn it into something of entertainment value! :) on another note, i got about an hour's worth of sleep last night. i had the worst cramping in my back and side, not sure what that's about but it made for a miserable night. i just hope i can make it through today OK. 3:13 pm	Monday Monday Can't seem to shake this darned sore throat. I wonder if it's really a cold coming on, or if I just have some sort of sinus infection on the left side? Either way it's bothersome. I went to bed by 8 or 9 all last wk and proceeded to sleep most of the wknd away, hoping to knock it out of my system. Sigh....no luck. The little 24 yr old came over to visit me Friday night...we had fun. I can't figure out if he wants to kiss me...he'll look at me all intently like he's going to move in, but then I get chicken and look away. What's up w/that? Perhaps next time we hang out I'll have more answers? Don't know, but he seems to be a regular presence lately...either calling or stopping by. Between him and J I could practically have a bonafide boyfriend (if I could just combine the two of them...). J actually just called from Idaho. He was driving by a Jack in the Box and wanted to know if he could bring me something back. That was sweet.
